Shipping Container Conversion

I spent the the first few months of 2018 converting a shipping container so that it can be used as both a digital studio for the Maker Space, housing the laser cutter and 3D printer, and also as a show room for some of the things I make. This has been made possible through a grant from the Cultivator project at Kroji, which has helped with buying laptops, materials for fitting out the studio, and some funds for marketing the Maker Space and new training courses.

The laser cutter and 3D printers are already installed and all the furniture and storage has been made, all that is left to do is to load  the laptops  with  software. The first Maker Space is scheduled for the 14th of April and soon after we will be running longer more in depth courses. The space and equipment will also be available to rent providing the users have been on a course and have shown they  are competent.

This is one of the best shipping container conversions I’ve seen. So light and bright. It’s even cool in summer and warm in the winter. Having an inspiring space to learn digital crafts makes all the difference.
